Church Boat 500 Meter Sprint (Spring)
Church Boat racing is Coeur d'Alene 's newest and most exhilarating water sport. Join in the 1st Annual Spring Sprint races tentatively scheduled for June 2nd , 2007. (Spring training starts May 5th, 2007). Church Boat racing is a fast and fascinating. This spring practice race will be an all amateur race with our trained Coaches serving as Coxies or along for the ride (at coach's discretion). The sprint races will be held in heats of 4 teams begining at 9:00a.m. continuing until complete, approximately 3:00p.m. Times from this race will set the tone for summer training and remaining races this season. This sport promises to be exciting for all. All captains and coxies MUST attend the Captains' Meeting at 8:00 a.m.
Church Boat 5K Race, 3.1 miles (Spring)
The Church Boat, Cougar Bay 5K, tentatively scheduled for June 23rd, 2007, is a fun fast row to start out the spring training. The 5K is a very fast all out event. The 5K will see the Church Boats race from the City Beach to Cougar Bay and back. The only experience necessary is to have completed two (2) practices. If your Coxi is not certified yet your coach may be along for the ride.
Church Boat 10K Race, 6.2 miles (Fall)
The Church Boat, Arrow Point 10K, tentatively scheduled for September 23th, 2006, is a warm up training event for endurance athletes such as runners and marathoners. The 10K is a very exciting high output event. The 10K will see the Church Boats race from the City Beach to Arrow Point and back. The experience necessary is certification and enough practice to have a strong back that will go the course.
Church Boat 45K Meter Marathon, 28 miles (Fall)
The Church Boat, Rockford Bay 45K, Want to try a new endurance race? If you enjoy endurance activities than you need to take part in The Church Boat Marathon! This Marathon takes place tentatively scheduled for September 30th, 2006 and promises to be a barn burner. The race starts at the city beach and goes to Black Rock and back. It's a 45K round trip. Will you set the first annual record? A fast crew can make this trip in under 3 hours. How fast is your crew?
1st Annual Viking Festival and Church Boat Races
The 1st Annual Viking Festival, tentatively scheduled for October 14th, 2006. The Viking Festival will provide many activities and cultural events. The activities will include boat races. These are fun races starting with open 500 meter Sprints. Then in the afternoon there will be two, mixed crew Marathon Events starting from the City Beach going to Black Rock at Rockford Bay and back, a 45K round trip. Further descriptions of these races to be published soon.
The Awards Ceremony will be held conclusion of races.
Races may be canceled for inclement weather, high wind or high waves. All other cancellations will have 30 days notice posted on this site.
